Gopika Gopi's entry into Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 5 was significant because she did not come from an established film, television or social-media career. Before the show, she was working at a courier service office in Muvattupuzha.
She earned her place through the season's public commoner selection initiative. That made Gopika the first contestant in the Malayalam edition to enter the main house through a route designed specifically for a member of the general public.
Inside the house, she took part in the same tasks, nominations and group dynamics as the celebrity contestants. Her run ended in a midweek eviction in April 2023.
