Akhil Marar is a Malayalam filmmaker and writer who won Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 5 after reaching the finale with Reneesha Rahiman, Junaiz VP, Sobha Viswanath and Shiju Rasheed.
Biography
Akhil Marar came to Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 5 from behind the camera. His early cinema work included assisting director Dr. Biju on Perariyathavar, before he moved into writing and directing his own projects.
He later wrote and directed the Malayalam political satire Oru Thathvika Avalokanam, released in 2021. That filmmaking background meant he entered Bigg Boss with a public identity rooted more in cinema production and commentary than in television acting.
Akhil was part of the original Season 5 cast and remained in the competition for its full run. The grand finale on 2 July 2023 placed him alongside Reneesha Rahiman, Junaiz VP, Sobha Viswanath and Shiju Rasheed.
He was ultimately declared the winner of Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 5, with Reneesha finishing as runner-up. The victory transformed him from a filmmaker known mainly within Malayalam cinema circles into one of the most recognisable public figures produced by that season.
