Muniyammal entered Bigg Boss Tamil Season 10 from a background far removed from the usual film-and-television celebrity route. Associated with Ramanathapuram, she was introduced through Bigg Boss: The Common Man, the pre-season selection format created to give ordinary people a route into the main Bigg Boss house.

During the Common Man process, Muniyammal progressed through multiple rounds and remained in contention until the final selection stage. Her public profile before the main season was built around her straightforward communication and relatable presence rather than an established acting or television career. She has also been associated with grassroots Tamil digital content, which helped some viewers recognise her even before the Season 10 premiere.

On the 6 September 2026 grand launch, Vijay Sethupathi confirmed Muniyammal as one of the three Common Man participants chosen to enter the main house, alongside Shama and Jason. Her earlier Common Man stay is kept separate from her Season 10 house journey so the pre-show days are not incorrectly presented as days spent in the main Bigg Boss house.
