Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 3 premiered on 14 February 2021 with Mohanlal as host. Production in Chennai was halted during the COVID-19 lockdown, but the season later received a special finale, where Manikuttan was declared winner and Sai Vishnu runner-up.

Season Information

Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 3 premiered on 14 February 2021 with Mohanlal returning as host. Fourteen contestants entered on launch night, with later wildcard entries expanding the house.

Firoz Khan and Sajna Firoz competed together as a joint housemate entry, while Michelle Ann Daniel, Angel Thomas and Remya Panicker were among the other wildcard additions.

The normal house phase ended on Day 95 when production was stopped during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The eight remaining contestants left the house, and the broadcaster later used a dedicated public vote to determine the season result.

A delayed grand finale aired on 1 August 2021. Manikuttan won Season 3 and Sai Vishnu finished as runner-up.

Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 3: the season story

Season 3 is unusual in the Malayalam archive because its house competition and its final result happened in two different stages. The season ran normally through nominations, captaincy, tasks and wildcard entries until COVID-19 restrictions forced production to stop before the planned 100-day finish.

Instead of ending without a champion, the broadcaster later opened a public vote among the eight contestants who remained when the house closed. This created an alternative finale format and separated the competitive house phase from the eventual winner announcement.
