Biography

Amit Sadh is a versatile Indian actor born on June 5, 1979, in Delhi, India. Growing up in a household with a strong sporting background—his father, Ram Chandra Dogra, was a national-level hockey player—Amit eventually pursued his education at La Martiniere College in Lucknow. Following his graduation, he moved to Mumbai at the age of 21 to pursue an acting career, initially working various jobs, including a stint as a security guard, to support himself while auditioning for roles.

His professional acting journey began in the early 2000s on television, where he made a significant impact with his debut in the teen drama Kyun Hota Hai Pyarrr (2002–2003). This early success turned him into a favorite among younger audiences and led to further television roles in shows like Guns & Roses and Kohinoor. During this period, he also became a familiar face on Indian reality TV, participating in the inaugural seasons of Nach Baliye (2005) and Fear Factor India, as well as the first season of Bigg Boss (2006), where he finished as a finalist. Seeking to further hone his craft, he later took a hiatus from the industry to study method acting at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in New York.

Amit’s major cinematic breakthrough came in 2013 with the critically acclaimed film Kai Po Che!, where his portrayal of Omi Shastri earned him widespread recognition for his emotional depth and intensity. This success paved the way for significant roles in major Bollywood productions, including the sports drama Sultan (2016) alongside Salman Khan, the political thriller Sarkar 3 (2017) with Amitabh Bachchan, and the historical sports film Gold (2018). In recent years, he has successfully transitioned into the digital space, becoming a cornerstone of Indian web series. He is most celebrated for his role as Inspector Kabir Sawant in the Breathe franchise (2018–2022), a performance that won him the Filmfare OTT Award for Best Supporting Actor. His portfolio also includes powerful military-themed dramas such as Avrodh: The Siege Within and Jeet Ki Zid, where he portrayed real-life army heroes.
