Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8

Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8 premiered on 6 October 2024 on Vijay Television, with Vijay Sethupathi becoming the new host of the Tamil edition. He succeeded Kamal Haasan, who had presented the first seven regular seasons. Eighteen contestants entered during the launch episode.

The season opened with a Men vs Women theme, dividing the contestants into opposing gender-based sides and building early tasks and house dynamics around that format. On 3 November, six wildcard contestants entered together: Riya Thiyagarajan, Raanav, Varshini Venkat, Manjari Narayanan, Shiva Kumarr and Rayan. The additions brought the season to 24 unique contestants.

Rayan performed strongly in the Ticket to Finale task series and became the first confirmed finalist. Finale week introduced a different version of the cash-box concept: contestants could run outside the house, collect a specified cash box and keep their place in the game only if they returned within the allotted time. Several contestants successfully collected cash amounts. Jacquline YS attempted the ₹8 lakh box but failed to return within the required time and was eliminated before the finale.

The final five were Muthukumaran Jegatheesan, Soundariya Nanjundan, VJ Vishal, Pavithra Janani and Rayan. The grand finale aired on 19 January 2025. Muthukumaran won Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8, Soundariya finished as runner-up, Vishal placed third, Pavithra fourth and Rayan fifth. The final winner cash prize was ₹40.5 lakh after the finale-week cash-run deductions. The season lasted 105 days and was broadcast across 106 episodes.
