Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 1 launched the Malayalam edition on 24 June 2018 with Mohanlal as host. Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 1 premiered on 24 June 2018, introducing the Bigg Boss format to Malayalam television with Mohanlal as host and Asianet as broadcaster.
Sixteen contestants entered on launch night. The season established the Malayalam edition’s core format of house tasks, nominations, public-vote evictions and captaincy, while later entries changed the original lineup.
Shiyas Kareem and Anjali Ameer joined as wildcard contestants, and Hima Shankar returned after an earlier eviction. Shiyas later reached the final three.
The grand finale aired on 30 September 2018. Sabumon Abdusamad became the first Bigg Boss Malayalam winner, with Pearle Maaney as runner-up.
