Biggboss Hindi Season 2

Bigg Boss Hindi Season 2, subtitled "Iss Nazar Se Kaun Bachega," was a pivotal installment in the franchise as it marked the transition of the show to its long-term home on Colors TV. Hosted by Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, who had recently gained international fame by winning Celebrity Big Brother UK, the season maintained the show's early tradition of filming in the scenic hill station of Lonavala, Maharashtra. Premiering on August 17, 2008, the season adopted a "New Age" theme, focusing on the raw psychological shifts of the housemates over 98 continuous days of isolation.

The competition concluded with a high-stakes finale where Ashutosh Kaushik, a former MTV Roadies winner, emerged as the champion, taking home a grand prize of ₹1 crore. The runner-up position was secured by Raja Chaudhary, whose volatile journey remained a major talking point throughout the season. Rounding out the top finalists were Zulfi Syed (2nd runner-up) and Rahul Mahajan, who, despite being a frontrunner, was disqualified just days before the finale. Additionally, Rahul Mahajan was awarded a brand-new car for being voted the "Bada Dilwala" (one with a big heart) by the audience.

The season is historically remembered for several "firsts" and explosive controversies, most notably the great escape incident where Rahul Mahajan, Raja Chaudhary, Zulfi Syed, and Ashutosh Kaushik climbed the house walls to exit the premises in protest of the food conditions. While the others apologized and returned, Rahul’s refusal led to his immediate ejection. The season also featured the emotional and brief stint of British celebrity Jade Goody, who had to leave the house on Day 2 after being diagnosed with cervical cancer. From the heated public rivalry between Sambhavna Seth and Payal Rohatgi to the redemption arc of Monica Bedi, Season 2 effectively cemented Bigg Boss as a staple of Indian pop culture.
