Farah Khan
Biography
Farah Khan’s association with the Hindi-language reality show Bigg Boss is marked by her ability to step into the spotlight during critical transitions. Her most significant stint occurred in January 2015, when she took over the reins from Salman Khan to host the special spin-off, Bigg Boss Halla Bol. This extension of the eighth season lasted for approximately 28 days (from January 4 to January 31, 2015) and featured a "Champions vs. Challengers" format. Farah was brought in because Salman Khan had prior filming commitments for Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Beyond this standalone season, she has frequently served as an interim host, notably stepping in for several Weekend Ka Vaar episodes during Season 16 in January 2023 and again in Season 19 in late 2025.
As a host, Farah Khan is known for her blunt, "no-nonsense" style, often drawing on her deep knowledge of the industry to critique contestants' performances. During her tenure, she has overseen major house events, such as the ejection of Ajaz Khan for violent behavior in Halla Bol and the crowning of Gautam Gulati as the season’s winner. Her hosting duties in Season 19 were particularly notable for her vocal support of winner Gaurav Khanna, where she defended his authenticity against claims from other housemates that he was "faking" his personality.
Despite her popularity, Farah's involvement has not been without controversy. In Season 19, her hosting was met with some public debate; critics and fans of the runner-up, Farrhana Bhatt, accused the show of bias after Farah publicly called certain contestants "boring" while rooted for others. Following the conclusion of the season, Farah continued to engage with the show's legacy through her personal vlogs, where she hosted contestants like Farrhana to address on-screen friction. Most recently, while there was significant buzz about her hosting a new reality project titled The 50 in early 2026, reports indicated she was only involved in promotional shoots rather than serving as the regular anchor.
